Static — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Static: Survive the Apocalypse (“Static”) is a single-player interactive audio drama developed by Hoffmann Tech LTDA (“we”, “us”), published as MagicLab Solutions. It doesn’t collect your name or anything else that identifies you. To help us write what comes next, it shares anonymous statistics about the story, which you can turn off.

What we collect

Static has no user accounts, no advertising and no tracking. Every story line is recorded in advance and ships inside the app.

Anonymous story statistics

While Settings > Share anonymous story choices is on (it is unless you turn it off), the app sends us which choices you make in the story, how you made them (a tap, a head gesture, your voice or the lock screen) and how long you took, which chapters you start and finish, which ending you reach, and when you skip ahead. These are tied to a random identifier the app creates on your device, not to your name or your Apple account, and come with the app version, the iOS version and your App Store country.

Like any server, ours sees your device’s IP address when the app connects to it, and keeps the most recent one with that random identifier.

We use these statistics only to understand which paths players take and to decide what to write next. We don’t sell them, share them with advertisers or use them to track you across other apps and websites. They are processed by Horse Revenue, our own service, which runs on Google Cloud in the United States.

Settings we send to the app

The app also downloads a few settings from the same service, such as a message shown at the end of the story. Fetching them sends nothing beyond what is described above.

Your story and your name

The name and pronouns you enter, your choices and your progress are stored on your device and never leave it. Deleting the app deletes them.

Head gestures

If you allow Motion & Fitness access, the app reads your headphones’ head motion while a decision is open, so you can nod or shake to answer. That motion is processed on your device, is never stored and is never sent anywhere.

Voice commands

Voice commands are off until you turn them on in Settings. Then, if you allow the microphone and speech recognition, the app listens through your iPhone’s microphone while the story is speaking or waiting for your answer, so you can say “pause”, “repeat” or your choice. What you say is recognised on your iPhone itself: it is never recorded, never stored and never sent to us, to Apple or to anyone else. On a device that can’t recognise speech by itself, voice commands are simply unavailable.

Notifications

The story runs in real time, so it schedules notifications on your device to bring you back when it needs you. They are local notifications: nothing is sent to us or to anyone else to deliver them.

Playtest log

The app keeps a log on your device of how you answered each decision and how much you listened, to help us test the story. It leaves your device only if you choose to share it from Settings.

Apple

If you have agreed to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us, under Apple’s Privacy Policy. They don’t identify you.

Children

Static does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If the app ever begins to collect anything more, such as for purchases, we will update this page and the “last updated” date above before it does.
